3 things that made me feel better during quarantine
I’ve been nervous getting back into the work week. It has been hard being at home and managing my son who is sick as well at this time. There were ups and downs for sure these last 10 days, but I thought I would share three things I did that make me feel good and happy (and cost nothing).
- I put lemon in my water. I’ve been drinking a lot of water this last week trying to stay hydrated and healthy. But after while, I get bored. So in the mornings, I cut up one lemon and fill a big pitcher with water. I like my water room temperature anyhow so this makes it look nice and taste good all day… and not as much as a chore to get through 8 glasses. A small, but nice thing that has made me smile.
- I had a date with my husband. We are together all day everyday now, but we are also with our two kids all day everyday. We cannot go visit the grandparents and grab an hour or two. So this last week, after the kids went to bed, we made a date. We ‘met’ each other in the living room at 9:15pm and after that all technology was off. It was amazing. We didn’t talk at all about the virus or the quarantine. We connected, we laughed and we enjoyed being with each other. Give it a go.
- I washed my face every day. With the rush of school drop offs, work schedules and commutes not happening, I do find a bit extra time every morning and evening. I have not put on makeup once and I have taken a few extra minutes each morning and night to really wash my face, rub on some serum or moisturizers (trying out various gifts I have received over the years). Those few extra minutes a day doing something good for myself is enjoyable and is a bit of respite from the rest we are dealing with these days.
I know there is so much going on now — stress and worry, isolation but also at times overwhelm with the people you are isolated with. None of these things are the solution to our challenges, but I wanted to share a few of the things that have made the smallest difference to me these last 10 days and helped me enjoy and hopefully a little less likely to explode when one of the kids has their 10th meltdown of the day.
Good luck. Stay home. Stay healthy. xx
