As we enjoy the longer daylight hours, we are faced with new challenges for our little ones. Warmer weather, outdoor activities, and travel often challenge us to be more prepared. Often I am not prepared for all of this activity until summer is already in full swing. In this blog post, we will discuss some of our favorite products for making sure your summer is stress-free, memorable and fun - including sun protection, outdoor play, and travel tips to keep in mind.
Some of Our Favorite Products for Summer Fun
Use sunscreen: Select a sunscreen with SPF30 or higher formulated specifically for babies’ gentle skin. Apply it on exposed skin at least 15 minutes before going outdoors. ThinkBaby and Attitude are two of our favorites with safe ingredients for your little one. If you are like us and want to read about the best products for our planet, we love the Environmental Working Group's lists!
Sun hats: For babies that are too young for sunscreen (and for older ones too), a wide brim sun hat is a great option to protect their tiny ears and cheeks, while keeping them cool during the day. Flexible hats are a bonus making them easy to pack. There are many choices, but we love Green Sprout’s hats with the flap for extra neck coverage.
Rash guard and swimming suits: These items can be expensive and are often only worn a handful of times. Skip the purchase and rent the Swim Pack capsule from Rent a Romper instead for just $14 per month (if your summer season is only a couple months long, save the hassle and just rent and send them back when you are done)!
Sunglasses: For those bright days, Honeydew Retro Round baby sunglasses not only make for the cutest photos, but they also provide UV protection and come in a wide range of colors.
Wet Bags: Have a change of clothes, diapers or wet swimsuit that you need to get home? Throw it in our zipper closure wet bag and feel confident the rest of your bag will stay dry and clean. These are great for children of all ages (and adults too!) who love spending time in the water or having watermelon eating contests.
Name Tags: Whether you are traveling as a family or sending your little one off to daycare, summer time often means outfit changes for water and outdoor play. Keep track of all of your little one’s clothing and gear with our favorite Name Bubbles stick on name labels. They are also OK to put on your Rent a Romper clothing.
What are some of your must haves for summer? We would love to see what you and your family are up to this year. #theRARway
